A message from the winemaker...

James Bond walked into the gently rocking dinning car with his shoulders back and his eyes fixed on the barman. Only the observant would have noticed the red swelling below his left eye and the missing cufflink below his dinner jacket sleeve. Half a mile behind him, in a shallow wadi beside the tracks, lay the lifeless body of his would-be assassin.

Good evening, Mr Bond, welcomed the barman.

Good evening, Harry, said Bond. This heat has me rather parched and I am in need of something simultaneously lively and serene.

Celebrating something, Mr Bond? enquired Harry, raising an inquisitive eyebrow.

Not particularly, Harry, Bond said as he scanned the occupants of the dining car in the bars mirror.

I think I have just the thing, Mr Bond, said Harry as he produced a bottle of The Drift Estate Rose from the refrigerator below the bar.

Splendid, Harry, said Bond, his eyes engaged by the bold colour of the wine. What a nice change from those insipid-coloured, watery wines.

Indeed, Mr Bond, said Harry, as he poured a glass. The lady dining in booth number 3 has ordered a glass herself. Apparently shes a wine expert.

How informative, Harry, said Bond as he turned around. And what a stroke of luck.

---

If James Bond found himself on a train chugging through a desolate desert, he would most certainly choose this wine with his starter course of smoked Scottish salmon, dressed with capers and splashed with fresh lime juice.

This wine is a perfect way to start a meal and is our favourite summer lunchtime wine. With aromas of jackfruit, nectarine and rose petals it is super dry and fresh with a long, deliciously soft red fruit finish.

Tasting Note

Notes of rose petal and nectarine sorbet with a squeeze of lime.

Food Pairing

Very few wines will pair better with a sunset over the sea, especially if your feet are in the sand and your hair is still wet from a plunge beneath the waves. Failing that close your eyes and the wines will transport you there. It will also go brilliantly with fresh oysters sprinkled with lime juice, fresh scampi and triple cooked wedges with dill-infused mayonnaise and of course butter chicken curry.

"So great to be able to receive a regular delivery of good wine rather than the usual 12 bottle case sold by most 'wine clubs' "

- Terry Wharton Hood -

Great wine at a great time, everytime
