Nicolas is a blend brimming with character, each component – outstanding in its own right – together creates something exceptional. Shiraz, a signature variety for Boschendal, adds intrigue and depth with intriguing spicy notes, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot give classical structure, Malbec a beautiful deep colour and vibrant red fruit, while the Merlot enhances the fruit profile and Cabernet Franc elaborates on the spicy richness of the Shiraz.

Good structure, well balanced. Red fruit and also oaky and tobacco.
An interesting blend of Shiraz, Merlot, Cab, Petit Verdot and Malbec. Brilliant colour and a complex nose of white pepper, dark fruits with definite black cherry. Smooth palate with chocolate and berries with balanced alcohol. Excellent now but will improve.
Enjoyed this bottle. Another year & it will be even better
The nose has bold berries, blackberry, blueberry, gentle eucalyptus, and oak. The palate is full and dry, with slightly grippy tannins. The berries follow through. Interestingly, it didn’t stand up to the cheddar, but was okay with the sweet marscapone, pecan nuts, and fig. Go figure.
