Meerendal Chardonnay 2008
VINTAGE: 2007
ORIGIN: Durbanville.
CLIMATE: Mediterranean climate with warm, dry, summers with a unique pattern of cool winds. Winters are cold and wet with an annual rainfall on the estate of a mere 550mm.
SOIL: Oakleaf and Tukulu.
VINIFICATION: Grapes were handpicked at 23 °Balling from a yield of 10 Ton/Ha. 50% fermented and matured in small French oak barrels for six months
after which it was blended with 50% fresh component.
ANALYSIS: Alcohol: 13,30 %vol.
Residual sugar: 2,1 g/l.
Total acidity: 6,9 g/l.
pH: 3,45.
DESCRIPTION: The wine shows a beautiful balance between pineapple and citrus flavours with a sweetish entry and dried peaches on the aftertaste . A lingering full bodied wine with delicate wood nuances.
SERVING SUGGESTION: Essentially a fine food wine with roasted chicken, pastas and creamy cheeses.
